If you are new to the website and are interested in finding out more about BFR, your best starting point will be the About Us section. We hope you like what you see and look forward to meeting you.
The quiz this Friday will start at 8:00PM so that we can be sure that it will not finish too late.
There is just one or two places left available so please check with Anne if you want to come along.
What a tremendous day!
First off a very big thank you to everyone who helped to make today the first class event that it was – so much in the style and tradition of this great club of ours. I hope I don’t miss anyone out; the course directors and course markers, the marshals, the timekeepers and results guys, the refreshments team and of course those members who took part in the race itself. A great team effort we should all be very proud of ourselves.
As for the results, despite a number of missing faces for a number of reasons, we’re back in the three’s. The ladies were third, the guys were third and the team was third, cementing our third place in the league; but look at the detailed results the ladies beat TVT by only 3 points and the men by just 2! Our scoring ladies were Annie, Elaine and Tania and our first three guys home were Leslie, Neal (I’m back he screamed as he finished!!!) and Mike. In total we had 34 finishers which is tremendous especially when you add on the 40 or so people who performed all the aforementioned support roles.
Another good result at the Tadley Cross Country this weekend. Overall we finished fourth as a team, with the guys fourth and the ladies fifth. We remain third in the league with just 2 more races to go. Our scoring ladies were Annie, Tania and Daniella. Our men were led home by Terry, Mike and Paul.
It's our turn to host a race this Sunday, the 7th. Venue as last year is at Lightwater Country Park. I think as a matter of pride we should at least finish third at our own event so push all those excuses to one side (my wife needs to go shopping, I'm injured - I think, its cold) and let's get as stong a team out as we can. Of course many of you will be helping in other ways as marshalls, timekeepers, catering etc. and the committee really appreciates all the effort put in.
... and if you've not yet seen them we have the first unfurling of our new feather flags at a home event.
I am taking names if you want a seat on the coach to go down to the London Marathon. We have one coach that will take runners & supporters and another for Helpers. I need Helpers for the 40K Drinks Station and for 2 Baggage Lorries at the finish. If you would like to book your seat or would like to volunteer to help then either give me a call on 01276 31041 or e-mail me at lindarayman@btinternet.com We do normally have room for any spectators or supporters, the cost for them if they are not club members is £5.
This weekend's training schedule is:
Saturday 30 January the 3.5 to 4 hour marathon training group will meet at 9:00am at the Longhill car park for a 15 mile road run at around 8.5 minute mile pace.
Sunday 31 January the choice is TVXC at Tadley see the news item below OR the 4 to 5 hour marathon training group will be doing a 10 to 12 miles steady run OR meet as usual at the Lookout for an hour’s run in ability groups.
Another good result at the Finchcoasters Cross Country this weekend. In the ladies event it was Burnham Joggers who showed considerable improvement pushing our girls into fourth whereas in the men's event we finished 4th behind a resurgent TVT. Overall our team was fourth on the day but we're still third in the league. The good news guys is that the ladies haven't yet beaten us this season....
The next league cross country is this Sunday 31st January at Tadley, the postcode for those of you on sat-nav is RG26 5NL. No problem parking here but a bit of a trek to the start. Car sharers meet at Bracknell Athletic Track car park at 9:00 others meet at the start in time for the 11:00 kick off.
Hope you all enjoyed the Finch XC today - whilst we are waiting for the results to be published you might want to have a look at some photographs that John Roberts took.
He's also uploaded some from last year's Grizzly.
Frimley Lodge parkrun is a new addition to the parkrun venues.
The first live event is on 13 February but there will be a test run tomorrow (Saturday) with some local clubs participating. The organisors would welcome any BFR members or friends at tomorrow's run, if you are not a registered parkrunner it would help if you register your details on the website and print out the barcode produced.
The website is http://www.parkrun.org.uk/frimleylodge.
We have added an additional training session this weekend. The full schedule is:

Saturday 23 January the 3.5 to 4 hour marathon training group will meet at 9:00am at the Lookout for a 12 mile road run at around 8.5 minute mile pace.
Sunday 24 January the choice is:

Hi team.
Our next league cross country is on Sunday 24th January at Bramshill Plantation on the B3272 in Eversley, the postcode for those of you on sat-nav is RG27 0PR. Parking can sometimes be difficult here if the land is waterlogged so car sharing is encouraged. Car shareres meet at Bracknell Athletic Track car park at 9:30 others meet at the start in time for the 11:00 kick off. A change from previous years is that refreshments will be at the finish not back at the club house.
At the previous race hosted by Reading, our ladies were very close to being second. So ladies let's turn out in force and see is we can push Sandhurst down into third this time round.
