Mud Run

The Mud Run is an annual event held in memory of Boris Dabinett, a member of the club who sadly died of cancer in 2003.

Boris was a keen off road runner with a winning smile who famously always seemed to come back from a run covered in mud, despite it being in the middle of Summer and not having rained for months.

The run takes place May or June each year and is very much a club run held in club kit. The principle is to get as muddy as possible, - with awards for those who succeed.

We also use the occasion to present an award to a club member who has contributed signifcantly to the club in the previous year - whether through running or support. In 2008 this award was given to Ethel Spratley.

We were very lucky with the 2008 run - we'd had significant rain beforehand so finding the mud was no problem and as a bonus we had glorious sunshine on the day of the race itself. At the end of the run the Mayor and Mayoress of Bracknell Forest happened to be at The Lookout - they couldn't quite believe their eyes at the state of us but it didn't stop them joining us for the traditional photo call.

Before. Too good to last.

During. Glen uses the opportunity to pick on someone 40 years younger than him.

Hope you've got plenty of soap and washing powder at home.

Mind the suit please.
