I may not be setting the world (or even Bracknell) alight with my running and have recently had the distraction of an increase in the amount of rowing I am doing in the gym, in readiness for a second attempt at a 100k row (after London marathon, of course), but now I have also been persuaded to be part of a 12 person team to attempt to break the world record for the distance climbed on a versaclimber over a 24 hour period.
The majority of the team are instructors from BodyWorks gym at Bracknell Leisure centre and the event will be taking place on 15/16 November starting at either 6pm or 9 pm, tbc. We will probably be doing the attempt near to the TimeOut cafe in the leisure centre and it is in aid of Children in Need. All support will be gratefully welcomed, as will any words of encouragement. We need to average better than 146 feet per minute, which anyone who has used a versaclimber will know is quite a fair pace.
If my running gets any worse you will know why
New world record
We broke the world record, but unfortunately I only managed 6 of my 24 x 5 minute slots. I had to go to hospital with a case of atrial fibrillation unfortunately, and missed all the celebrations and photo shoot.
I did very well in my 6 slots, but should have known better and paced myself, so that I could have been there at the finish.
World Record
I think I prefer to keep things on two legs, enough to worry about running , not let alone rowing and steeping. Good luck, will try and pop in and see how you are getting on
